For those wishing to “Enjoy a unique cultural experience”: Basilica offers a tailor-made educational and friendly experience. The visit can be enriched with workshops, quizzes and guided interpretation, adapted to each group’s needs. To plan your visit, please contact our team.

For those wishing to “Learn differently through a sensory immersion”: Basilica turns a heritage visit into a genuine educational tool. The tours are designed in line with school curricula and complemented by interactive workshops. The sound and visual immersion stimulates curiosity, offering teachers an innovative alternative to traditional visits. It is suitable for primary school pupils from CE2 level, cycle 3 / 4, secondary school pupils and students. To plan your visit, please contact our team.

Do you have a question?

The Basilique Saint-Seurin is open to visitors:

  • Tuesday to Saturday, from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm
  • and Sunday from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm.


The Basilica experience will open in June 2026:

  • It will welcome visitors from Tuesday to Saturday, from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm, with the last audio journey starting then.
  • On Sunday, from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm, with the last audio journey starting then.

 

Opening times are not final and will be confirmed according to future operating arrangements.

Please note: opening times may vary depending on religious services or other special events.

An immersive experience lasting around 1 hour 15 minutes:

  • An audio journey that allows you to discover, using a headset, famous figures, works of art and architectural details of the Basilique. The trail includes 8 steps and lasts 40 minutes.
  • A visitor interpretation area that complements your experience by providing keys to understanding the site. Duration: around 30 minutes.

You will find:

  • a 2,000-year timeline, from the 5th century to the present day, placing the history of Bordeaux and the rise of Christianity in Aquitaine into context;
  • 3 films: images of the basilica, a close-up look at the alabasters, and a focus on the scientific project as told by the researchers. Duration: around 30 minutes;
  • a dedicated space for interpretation, talks and discussions.

To fully enjoy the architecture of the basilica and the Basilica immersive experience, we recommend allowing around 1 hour 30 minutes for your visit.

  • Audio journey: 40 minutes
  • Time in the visitor interpretation area: 20–30 minutes
  • Free architectural visit: 20–30 minutes

Yes, specific facilities have been put in place to allow access to most of the building.

Access to certain historic areas, such as the crypt, remains limited due to the architectural constraints of the period.
However, to ensure that all visitors can make the most of the Basilica experience, additional content will soon be available.

Please note: if you have a disability and would like to take part in the Basilica visit, please contact our team in advance so that we can welcome you in the best possible conditions.

To keep a memory of your Basilica experience or your visit to the basilica, photos and videos without flash, for personal and private use, are allowed.

However, any professional photo or video shoot, as well as the use of equipment such as tripods or similar devices, requires prior authorisation. Please contact our team.
