An Immersive Journey Between Sound and Light: Become the Heroes of History

Your adventure begins on the famous Place Saint-Seurin in Bordeaux. Behind the doors of this UNESCO World Heritage masterpiece, a new kind of quest awaits explorers young and old. From the moment you enter, history textbooks are traded for innovative technology: put on your headphones, and off you go on a spatialized 3D sound journey.

This 10-step immersive tour (duration: 40 minutes) is designed like a real audio treasure hunt through the Saint-Seurin Basilica. Guided by the vibrant stories of illustrious figures who shaped the site, children set off to discover the building’s secrets.

But the experience doesn’t stop at sound: a true light choreography unfolds before your eyes. The lighting reveals masterpieces and highlights hidden architectural details.

The highlight of the show: descending into the mysterious Saint-Seurin crypt in Bordeaux. In this place steeped in history, the combination of light and 3D sound creates a magical, almost secretive atmosphere that instantly captivates children.

Psst… Souvenir photos (without flash and for private use) are allowed, so remember to capture their amazed faces!

Extend the Adventure in the Exploration Space

After the emotions of the audiovisual tour, time for the keys to understanding! The adventure continues for about 30 minutes in the Exploration (and Mediation) Space, designed to highlight this exceptional historical and human heritage.

Here, the goal is to learn while having fun thanks to interactive features:

  • The 2,000-Year Timeline: From the 5th century to the present day, it puts the history of Bordeaux and the growth of Christianity in Aquitaine into perspective at your fingertips.
  • 3 Captivating Mini-Films: Fast-paced video clips (exclusive footage of the basilica, a close-up on the mysterious alabasters, and behind-the-scenes looks at the project told by researchers) to dive deeper into the site’s secrets in a fun way.
  • A Mediation Hub: A lively space designed for family discussions, lectures, and exchanges.

A Lively, High-Tech Alternative to Classic Outings

To fully enjoy the architecture and the experience, we recommend planning about 1h30 on-site (40 min sound journey, 30 min in the exploration space, and 20 min self-guided architectural tour).

Basilica stands out as the ideal high-tech alternative to share a great family moment, far from traditional guided tours. (Note: For those who wish to go even further, guided tours of the necropolis or crypt can be organized by contacting the Bordeaux Tourist Office or the Basilica team).
